The Architects Act

General Regulation and Bylaws Course

The purpose of this course is to familiarize members with the major topics of the legislation that governs the activities of all registered architects, licensed interior designers and restricted practitioners in Alberta. It is not meant as a replacement of a thorough reading of the Act, general regulation and bylaws, rather it is meant to function as a catalyst for a more detailed reading of this legislation. (It is recommended that members consider a complete review for an overall understanding to the amendments to the Act and General Regulations.)

Newly registered architects joining the AAA between July 1 and December 31st will be required to complete the course by June 30th of the following year. New members joining the AAA between January 1st and June 30th, must complete the course by June 30th of their first full year of registration. If you are an Intern Interior Designer, you must complete the entire course as part of your licensure requirements. Intern Architects must complete the entire course prior to licensure. Members must complete each chapter’s questions and compare your answers with the answers provided within the course materials.

Architects Act, General Regulation and Bylaws Course

If you have previously completed the original hard copy version of the Architects Act, Regulations and Bylaws course, you are required to complete selected portions of the Course (chapters 2, 4 and 6).
